Running on Empty...

As the end of the school year approaches, things tend to get really busy (as those with kids know). To add to it all, I am in "training" for a triathlon which I am doing in two weeks. It's amazing how much time that takes! :) Anyhow, last Thursday, I was driving home from the gym and ran out of gas! I knew I needed gas, but thought I'd get it later when I had more time. That's never happened to me before...I realized what was happening and believe it or not was only 100 or so feet from a gas station, so I coasted in and almost made it to the pump. I proceeded to push the van (in flip flops and a swimming suit, mind you) so the nozzle would reach my car. Relieved that I'd made it to the pump, I got into my purse, and realized I had left my wallet at home...I didn't have any money! I ended up calling Dave who was able to "rescue" me! :) Kinda sums up my week...running on empty and Dave coming to the rescue by picking up all the slack! He's a keeper! :)

A Star is Born!

For Taylor's Band project, she had to make a video of herself playing all of the scales. So, for a couple of days, she and Dave worked on recording all of her scales. Last night, while she was at Young Women's, Dave put all the video clips together and burned it onto a DVD for her. When we got home, he said, "check out the video and make sure it all looks okay." He had added this little number (dubbed over music) at the end...

Now we know what he does in his spare time, when no one is watching! :) We all had a good laugh! He made her a DVD without the "bonus" material too but she wanted to turn in the one with him...hopefully her teachers think it's funny too! :)

Gallery Wall

In April, we revamped our playroom and made it into more of a media room which I posted about here. The last couple weeks, I've been working on finishing the room and on a gallery wall. We also added a bookshelf and the Texas Flag. The room is finally finished! Yeah! Here's a peek... The pictures are some of my favorites of the kids ranging from newborn to current. The Texas Flag

This is now one of our favorite rooms in the house!

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day. My favorite part of the day was opening these home made gifts from Carter and Lauren...
Lauren made this frame out of cardboard & tape... I'm so impressed!
Love Notes from Lauren...
Love Note from Carter...
There is nothing I love more than being a mother and am so grateful for my own mother. She is a wonderful example to me and set the bar extremely high. Happy Mother's Day!
I feel so blessed.

Armadillo Hill Country Classic

Today my girlfriends Laurie, Kirsten, and I rode in another 28 mile bike ride. It took us 2 hours and 20 minutes, and we burned around 13oo calories! WOO-HOO! It was beautiful outside and overcast (thank goodness) although it was humid which made it a bit more challenging.
Laurie, Halli, & Kirsten
Unfortunately I don't have a shirt like theirs so I couldn't get in on the "matching outfits" :)
The ride was fully supported and had rest areas every 7 miles. We stopped half way through and took some pictures in the beautiful wildflowers...

Thanks Ladies...it was fun!

Taylor's Quest Project

For the last couple of months, Taylor has been researching Pit Bulls and putting together her Independent Study Project for school. Today was her presentation and she did a fabulous job....and I'm not just saying that cuz' I'm her mom! You should have heard the kids and teacher rave about her after she was finished. I would post the video of her presentation but it's like 25 minutes long. You're welcome! :) This last week she has worked constantly on it even pulling a couple "midnighters" (I don't know if that's even a word).

The Question: Should Pit Bulls be banned?
The Conclusion: No, but they should be strictly regulated and those desiring to own/breed pit bulls should be required to go through an extensive training process and obtain a license before they are allowed to own this breed.
Good Job Taylor...we are so PROUD!

P.S. Did you notice her t-shirt? She made it! (Using fabric markers, she drew a pit bull that was 1/2 good and 1/2 evil)

It's Raining, It's Pouring...

We need the rain so I am thankful for it but just wish it would have waited until I was finished with my crossing guard job! Can you tell where my raincoat came to? :)

Sea World

Last Friday we went to Sea World with Dave's parents and his sister, Katrina, and her family. We had a great time and even got Grandpa to ride the big roller coasters with us! Doesn't he look like he's having the time of his life (he's in the front next to Carter)...

Evidently he was yelling "Oh Crap" the entire ride. When it was finished he said, "I'm glad that's over!" We all got a good laugh out of this picture! :)

More Baptism Pictures

Lauren & Dave~ Dave baptised Lauren and his Dad confirmed her a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

We gave our camera to Kevin (Dave's sister's hubby) to take pictures and this is what we found... Nathan & Kevin

Dave's sister and her family came down for the baptism. We all had dinner at our house before the baptism and then came back after for desert. The menu consisted of Fettuccine Alfredo, Caesar Salad, Garlic Bread, and of course Ice Cream Sundaes!
