My Scrapbook Room
Last year, we moved Taylor & Lauren into "new bedrooms" and turned Lauren's "old bedroom" into a scrapbook room for me, remember? From the moment we finished that room, I HATED the color (light yellow) that I picked but there was no way I was going to talk Dave into re-painting! So, when we decided to change the carpet and baseboards throughout our house, I knew I could convince him to re-paint my scrapbook room! :) This was the room before...

And this is the room now...

Here's a close-up of the new & improved color choice...
So long ugly yellow walls!
We also replaced the carpet with wood flooring...
Aren't they pretty? The kids helped Dave & I install them as well as the new baseboards...
I LOVE how it turned out and think it looks so much better, don't you?

From the Mouths of Babes
It's Spring Break for our kiddos...unfortunately for them, we're spending the majority of the week working on house projects. We've been going strong since Saturday morning and the kids have been a huge help. Tonight, while putting in new baseboards upstairs, Carter said, "Well, there's one good thing about all this. When I'm older and my wife wants to change our baseboards, I'll say, no way...it's not happening!" :)

Jackie James's Tortilla Soup
One of my friends gave me her tortilla soup recipe and it is now one of our favorites! It's delicious even in the dead of summer plus it's easy and quick to prepare. So, I thought I'd share... Jackie James's Tortilla Soup
1 family-sized (or 3 small) can of chicken and rice soup1 can diced tomatoes and green chile's (11.5 ounce)
1 can Ranch Style beans (15 ounce) - black label
1-2 chicken breasts cooked and shredded
3 cups chicken broth
Cook over medium heat. Spoon into bowls and add tortilla chips, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream (we use plain Greek yogurt instead), avocados, and cilantro. Serves 4-6.

Volleyball
Last Saturday, right after all the little girlie's that came to the slumber party left, Taylor had her first volleyball game...

She did good! These two...
...were exhausted. So, I went home and took a 3 1/2 hour nap. I never nap, unless I'm sick, so that should tell you how tired I was...Dave, held out until Sunday! :)Posted by Halli Matheny at 9:11 AM 0 comments

Slumber Party
Last Friday, Lauren invited 8 friends...
over for a slumber party!
over for a slumber party! We played the "guess how many" game...

Then we had a "rainbow relay"...

Each team member had to paint one stripe of a rainbow. The first team to complete their rainbow, won. Simple but fun!

We played "spin the bottle"...
If it pointed to you, you got a kiss...

They're the best kind!
We had pizza, grapes, root beer, and made our own ice cream sundays...
They were good...

...in 3D!

We ate scrambled eggs, bacon, and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. And of course, there was a pinata...
It was fun!
Afterwards, we came home and played flashlight tag and made s'mores...

Saturday morning, we made the cutest puppets...

Double Digits
Ten years ago, we were loving on this sweetie pie...

Can you believe she's already ten years old? Yep, it's true...last Tuesday she hit the big 1-0...

Grandma & Grandpa came over to celebrate with us...

Taylor played Hedbanz with her...

...and we all enjoyed cake...

She wanted me to make her an ice cream cake but I had been sick for a couple of days and just didn't have it in me. So, we splurged and bought a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard Cake from Dairy Queen. It was good!

Grandpa made her a jewelry box...

...and Dad made sure she got 10 spanks and a pinch to grow an inch...

Happy Birthday Lauren! We love you!
