5th Grade Graduation

Today was Carter's 5th Grade Graduation. Originally we had talked about pulling our kids out of school this week to take them to Dave's 20 year class reunion in Missouri. Carter did not want to miss the 5th Grade Graduation because, as he put it, "it's a once in a life time opportunity." I think he just didn't want to miss out on the snow cones, pizza party, and Games2U truck which followed! :)
Remember when he was just a little fella...
~Kindergarten Graduation~
Well, not anymore...
He's growing up too fast!

The principal, Mrs. Price handing Carter his "diploma"...Dave said, "Yay! He graduated 5th grade just like everybody else!" I on the other hand, was crying! :)

We're so proud of you buddy!

Carter had wonderful teachers this year! In 5th grade, they have two teachers (one teaches math and science and the other language arts and social studies).~Ms. Dickson & Carter~

*Notice Carter's smile...this is what we get every time we say, "smile". It reminds me of this Friends episode.

You're officially "middle schoolers" now!

Mom's Day at the Lake

My friend, Darlene, invited me to a "mother's day out at the lake". We had so much fun! There were 4 of us and we did a little of this...

and this...

I haven't water skied in 15 years and have never knee boarded before. So, I wasn't sure if I'd even get up, but I did! Yay me! :) I'm pretty sure I'm going to be sore tomorrow...I used muscles that have laid dormant for years!

Afterwards, we headed to a great little restaurant on the lake for lunch. ~Halli, Darlene, Julia, and Brooke~

We made it home just in time to pick up the kiddies from school. It was the perfect day. Thanks Darlene! Now, if I can only talk Dave into getting a boat... (Hey a girl can dream, right?)

Pray for You...

I heard this song on the radio the other day...

and loved it! :) It's a little bit funny, don't ya think?

(p.s. Cori...I'm dedicating it to Rush. Your welcome.)

House Pictures: Part Four

The cushion for Taylor's window seat is finished! Take a closer look...

She loves it as it is very comfortable. Can you tell?

I also rearranged our music room and changed some of the wall decor.
The music room before...

...and after...

I moved the couch and put the mirror over the piano...

...and hung this new wall art where the mirror was.
Now I am planning to make some new curtains, but it may be awhile before I get that done!

I also bought a new mirror for over the fireplace in our family room.

and after...

The old mirror now hangs in Taylor's bathroom...

It's always fun to change things up a bit!

Inner Space Caverns

Last Tuesday, Lauren's class...
...went on a field trip to the Inner Space Caverns.
Not only did they get to explore the caves, but they got to mine for their very own crystals.
It was a good day!

This and That

Last Saturday, after Carter's football game...

...the kids had their piano recital. (Push play to watch the videos.)

Taylor composed the second song that she plays. She wrote it for a school project. Remember, I told you about it here? It's called "The Hunt." Enjoy!

I love recitals...it's nice to see Dave's hard earned cash put to good use. :)

On a different note, I had a great Mother's Day.

Lauren bought me a package of Lindor Truffles with her own money. They are my favorite thing in the whole world. Seriously, they are soooooooooo good. In fact, for teacher appreciation week, I bought each of the kids' teachers a package but had to return to the store to re-buy them as I ate them all! No worries, they're only like 220 calories/serving and I think I only ate 10 servings! Ha-Ha. You think I'm kidding...I wish I were because now I can't eat anything bad for a LONG time and I have a mouthful of canker sores (not to mention all the chocolate made me break out.) Yeah, that's what happens when you are allergic to chocolate. That should re-emphasize how good they are, or how little self control I have! :) I also got two rose bushes for my front flower beds...I hope y'all had a wonderful Mother's Day too!

A date with Grandpa...

Grandpa took Carter and his buddy, Sam, to a Round Rock Express game on Friday night. They had so much fun and learned a few new things (i.e. "seat surfing" and "cup gathering"-they came home with 32 plastic cups that had been discarded on the stadium floor by fellow patrons.)~Sam, Carter, & Grandpa~
Thanks Grandpa!

Gardens

For the last couple years, we've done container gardening... (Our container Garden)

This year, we decided we'd like to put in some raised beds so that we'd have more space and not be limited on what we can grow. So, Dave has been hard at work doing just that...

...with a little help from the kids.

Wa-laaa...
While I was away at my scrapbook retreat, he and the kids planted our new gardens...
We planted several kinds of bell & jalapeno peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, and watermelon. We didn't plant as much as usual, as we got them in a little late this year, but we easily tripled our space!

Lauren's Hair cut...

Lauren's been asking to get her hair cut short for the last couple weeks. So, today we did it! We think she looks pretty cute...

Don't you?

Scrapbook Retreat

Last Friday, I...
packed up my stuff...

and headed out of town with my friend Laurie...

for a weekend scrapbook retreat. It was at the Rockin' Retreat and Event Center...

We had a great time and got a ton done...

It was awesome. Now I'm tired...maybe I shouldn't have stayed up til' 3:00 a.m. two nights in a row? For some reason, that always gets me. :)

Pain in the...

Carter: "My digestive system hurts."

Me: "What?"

Carter: "My digestive system hurts."

Me: "You mean your stomach?"

Carter: "Yeah. That's what I said...my di-ges-tive-sys-tem."
Funny boy!
