Mother's Day Weekend Recap
...and headed to my parents house in Georgetown. They went to Dallas to visit my brother and let us use their house for a retreat while they were gone. It was awesome...actually, they are awesome, don't ya think? We had so much fun!!! Saturday night, our hubbies came up and we all went to dinner. Then they headed back home to take care of all the kiddies and we kept scrappin'...
and snackin'...
and scrappin' some more!
We got back Sunday night around 7ish...The kids had made me some rockin' Mother's Day presents like this crossword puzzle (from Carter)...
book of poems (from my girls)...
and hand sewn (by Lauren) water bottle cover...
Does it get any better?
I hope your day was fantastic too!
P.S. Thanks Mom & Dad for letting us use your house. It was perfect. I love you!!!

Time Out for Women
On Friday afternoon, we...
~Janet, Halli, Kim, Patti, & Sherri~
...headed to San Antonio to attend Time Out for Women! The theme this year is "Choose to Become." It was awesome. We got home Saturday evening. I felt like a new person. I want to become a better, more generous person. I want to complain less, judge less, and love more. Some of my favorite quotes were:
"When we are in over our heads, that's when we depend on our Savior the most." -Jericho Road
Emily Watts:
"If you want to be happy as a woman, develop a thick skin."
"If you want to be happy as a woman, develop a thick skin."
"The problem with judging other people is that we don't have all the facts."
"Expect hard things of your children. They will whine, but remember that the road to greatness is paved with whining."
"When you do something really hard, you feel good about yourself."
My favorite speaker, Kris Belcher, lost her vision and her eyes 7 years ago due to cancer. She went through a very dark period of time, as you can imagine. She said that people would say, "God only gives us what we can handle so you must be very strong." She said they were wrong...if that were true, we would not need a Savior. Heavenly Father does give us things we can not handle at times. But, with the help of our Savior, we can handle them. I had never thought of it like that before. She really put so many things into perspective for me.

It was just what I needed. Thanks ladies...I loved every minute and I loved getting to know all of you a little bit better!

Happy Easter!
I love this...His Sacred Name: An Easter Declaration. I also love that my kids are getting old enough to truly grasp the real reason for Easter. Not that egg hunts, baskets, bunnies, and candy aren't fun...but this year I felt like the focus was more on Our Savior, as it should be. I am overwhelmed when I think about all he has done for me...and I am so thankful. I hope y'all had a wonderful Easter.

Ladies Man
So, this is how it went down...A couple of Carter's friends were arguing. It involved a girl, whom according to Carter was egging them on. So, he decided he would step in and solve it. He turned to the girl and said, "I'm going to close my eyes and count to three. When I open them, you're going to be gone."
He closed his eyes, started counting, and when he got to two...she slapped him! We thought it was hilarious and Carter learned a valuable lesson about women. That's our ladies man for ya! :)

One of these things is not like the other.
This is our family room not too long ago...

This is it today...

Can you tell what is different? Do you need another hint?
Before...

After...

How about now? One more time.
Old...

New...
Yep, we changed our stair rail to rod iron and we got new carpet!
I love it! And I love being finished with house projects for a while (as does Carter!) Posted by Halli Matheny at 6:50 PM 1 comments
